Extracurricular Clubs & Activities


Extracurricular activities are a rewarding addition to the student's education. Valley View students are encouraged to participate in at least one club activity.


Art Club
Mrs. Burge

Meets:  Once a month

Art club offers experiences to connect with friends and the community through art.  Our activities may include: tie dye, Christmas tree decorating contests, mural painting, a canvas painting party and more! We are always looking for inspiration and new activities. All are welcome!

 

Bio Club
Mrs. Zabielski
Meets:  Vary in days
Bio Club promotes student interests and activities in the field of Biology. Activities include dissections, lab activities, Litter pick ups and other volunteer events that come up throughout the school year. The club supports school and community through these events.


Cooking Club
Mrs. Capuano
Meets:  Tuesdays of the Spring semester
Students will create a recipe after school. The recipes vary and are sometimes savory and sometimes sweet. Everything is made from scratch.


Drama Club
Ms. Myers

Meets: Wednesdays of the fall semester
Students will select, direct, and perform skits/plays. The aim is to engage students in the performing arts and theater. Students will learn acting skills and or stage work.  Plays will be preformed for other students and/or parents.


History Club
Mrs. Zeiss
Meets: Varied in the fall semester
The purpose of the History Club is to increase student involvement in their communities and encourage recognition of important historical events. We organize various school-wide activities such as the Veteran's Day Assembly, and plan field trips to historical events.

 

International Travel Club
Ms. Namlick

Meets:  Once a month
The purpose of the International Travel Club is to engage students who are looking toexpand their horizons through cultural enrichment and travel.

 

Leo Club
Mrs. Lesnefsky

Meets:  Vary in days
We do volunteer work for the school and the community. Activities include organizingthe Homecoming Dance, 'Adopting' families for Christmas, and hosting parties for ourLife Skills and Autistic Support Students.

 

Math Honor Society
Meets: Monthly at the discretion of the advisors.
Grades: 11 and 12
Purpose: Provides peer tutoring to students after school.

 

National Honor Society
Meets: Monthly at the discretion of the advisors.
Grades: 10 through 12
Purpose: To plan and implement service projects that benefit our school and community. The NHS aims to develop and nuture the qualities of character, leadership, scholarship and service in its members.

 

Pastime Club
Mr. Yenchik

Meets: Vary in the fall and early spring semester
We explore different pastimes and hobbies of the club members. We have explore different types of art, board games, chess, and look forward to more in the future. We hold an annual chess tournament with prizes for the first three places.


Reading Team
Ms. Myers
Meets:  2-3 during spring semester
Students will choose and read a novel from a preselected list of books in October.  Then in the spring the students will work as a team to answer questions from the designated book list sponsored by the NEIU19.


SADD
Mrs. Capuano and Mrs. Kinney
Meets:  Vary in days
SADD Club stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions - It is a club forstudents from all grade levels to join. We work together to promote safety, wisechoices, and good decision making. We celebrate Red Ribbon Week in October andconduct a Prom Mock Crash and assembly in the spring.

 

Scholastic Team
Meets: During the school day.
Grades: 12
Purpose: To compete against teams from other high schools of Northeastern Pennsylvania on radio and television programs in order to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of academic material.

 

Ski Club
Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Capuano

Meets: Days will vary 2-3 to prepare for the season
Ski Club provides students interested in skiing / snowboarding at Montage Mountain with an opportunity to get lift tickets rentals and or lessons at a reduced group rate.

 

Spanish Club
Ms. Namlick

Meets:  Vary in days
This club is open for all students who have taken Spanish II (or above) and are interested in Hispanic culture and the Spanish language.

 

Student Council
Mrs. Paone
Meets: Bi-monthly or call of the president
Purpose: To represent the student body by listening to its needs and concerns. The council conducts activites to help the school administration more fully understand the students.
