Summer Reading

Reading is the single most important thing you can do during the summer months to help retain and improve the reading skills that have been developing throughout the school year.  In fact, “studies show that most students experience a loss of reading skills over the summer months, but children who continue to read will gain skills” (www.readingrockets.org, 2022). 

To that end, please make a concentrated effort to read 20-30 minutes each day this summer.  Take advantage of programs offered at the Valley Community Library and check out the following resources for additional reading lists, resources and summer reading challenges:
