If you are interested in playing golf at the Varsity level please contact Coach Addley. You can find my contact information on my "Welcome" page. You must contact me before school gets out. I do not check my email in the summer.
The Golf Team has 12 spots available on the Boys team. There will not be more than 12 boys on the team. Unfortunately, due to the amount of interest in the sport and the time restraints put in place by the golf course, as well as safety concerns; the boy's golf team will be having cuts.
*Tryouts will be the first two days of practice. They will consist of a two day 18 hole stroke play event, as well as a basic rules test.
*Marshall's will be monitoring the players on the course, to insure the legitimacy of the contest. Players must have a completed physical and concussion test by the first day of practice, otherwise they will not be allowed to practice in any capacity, and therefore would miss tryouts and be cut.
*Also, if you plan on playing.... you should be getting individual lessons from a private instructor of your choosing (more info will be provided if you contact me), in addition to lessons you should be playing in some or all of the tournaments listed below, in your age group. The AGA are the most important and the most reasonable as far as price and distance are concerned. If you would like to play up in the older age groups in the AGA tournaments, you would need a letter from a club pro stating that the said player is playing able to compete. The other tournaments schedule (ie: Philadelphia, Celebration, etc.....) require traveling and are a little more money. Scott Greens also offer Junior Golf Tournaments throughout the summer, which are highly recommended and very affordable. It is very important that young golfers learn to play competitive golf in a tournament setting, not just golf on the weekends with mom or dad or in captain and crew tournaments. Players need to learn how to compete both mentally and physically, and handle pressure situations in rigorous conditions. The more tournament environments they can be exposed to, the better players they will become (ie: tournament tested). Picking up the clubs once or twice a week or a week or two before practice starts is not good enough!!! Players must play constantly!!! Individual practice starts the day the team is finished for the season. Players must practice and play all year long as much as possible. Players need to find time throughout the winter months to get some reps in (indoors or outdoors weather permitting). If they show up in August and are not ready to play on the first day, expect them not to earn the play time in the varsity matches or tournaments. They need to be ready to play both mentally and physically at the start of the season. Golf practice does not start on the first day the PIAA allows. It starts months prior to that. You will get what you put in!!!!
