 General Information

Physical Education class will have three sections; fitness, skill practice and games. Each area will be graded on a daily basis according the student's performance. The grading policy is listed below.

We will start each class with a warm-up activity. A variety of methods will be used to help the students prepare for activity and work on their fitness levels.

Skill practice will be included in each unit to provide the students with the opportunity to develop and improve upon their present skill level.

Game rules, safety, scoring, and strategies will be introduced for each activity.  Safety and appropriate behavior is imperative in all aspects of the class. Anyone failing to follow the safety rules will receive a zero grade for the class and be referred to the assistant principal.

Physical Education grading policy:

Students will be graded using the following scale, earning up to 5 points per class:

1 - Come to class in appropriate attire, ready for activity.

1 - Meet the requirements of the fitness activity for that day.

1 - Perform skill activities, and game activities to the best of your personal ability.

1- Perform fitness activities, skill activities and game activities with an excellent level of skill and ability.

1- Show motivation, good attitude, respect for others and cooperation during all phases of the class; and be willing to assist in any manner to help with equipment.

5 points are possible per class equaling 100 points

1 point = 60% -2 points = 70%-3 points = 80%-4 points = 90%-5 points = 100%

Medical excuses -  Any student that presents a medical excuse will not be penalized with a point deduction for the days he or she was medically excused.

Students who do not meet the requirements of class will be notified that a zero will be recorded for their class grade.

Students who need to make up a class due to being absent from school, or illness must make up the class within a week of the missed class.   A make-up class must be done during a resource period and approved by the student's Physical Education teacher.

Students who lose credit for class are assigned a zero for that day and will have a zero averaged into their quarter grade. Daily grades will be averaged for a weekly grade.

Weekly grades will be averaged to determine the student’s quarter grade.

A student that is unprepared for class more than once will receive a Saturday detention assigned by the assistant principal.  Each time after the second offense the student will receive a Saturday detention.

All students are encouraged to keep their personal items locked during class time. Students may purchase locks on their own.

Students will not be allowed to re-enter the locker room during class time.  All students will be sent to the upstairs lavatory.

Cell phones are not permitted during indoor or outdoor class time.  Any student in possession of a cell phone during class will receive a zero for class and the cell phone will be sent to the principal’s office for disciplinary action as stated in the student handbook.
