NEW SAT Dates 2023-2024

SAT's will be held at Valley View High School on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The deadline to register for this date is September 7, 2023.

Registered students are asked to arrive by 7:30 am and wait outside the Commons area doors for the SAT staff to greet you and direct you to your testing room. Please bring an acceptable ID, your calculator, additional #2 pencils, snack & drink.

Additional test dates are as follows:

November 4, 2023 - Deadline: October 5, 2023 December 2, 2023 - Deadline: November 2, 2023 March 9, 2023 - Deadline: February 23, 2024 (*VVHS TEST CENTER) May 4, 2024 - Deadline: April 19, 2024 June 1, 2024 - Deadline: May 17, 2024 (*VVHS TEST CENTER)

Financial Aid Announcement (August 2023)

FAFSA Delayed: Federal Student Aid (FSA) has announced the 2024-25 FAFSA will not be released until December 2023.  Due to recent legislation, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) Simplification is a significant overhaul of the processes and systems that award student aid.

The Valley View High School Guidance Department in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) is sponsoring a Financial Aid Night  “Creating your FSA ID” workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 6 PM at Valley View High School.

Advanced Placement Testing

Advanced Placement offers students at Valley View High School the opportunity to take college-level courses and exams. These courses allow students to potentially earn college credit, fulfill prerequisites for the first year in college, and give themselves an edge in the college admissions process. Students have the opportunity to sign up for AP courses during the spring. The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered on Saturday, October 14, 2023 beginning at 8:00 AM. Juniors and Sophomores who wish to take the PSAT this year will register with the Guidance Office in early September. Since there are a limited number of the tests available, registration will be on a first come/first serve basis. The cost of the test is $30.00 Cash, check, or money order will be accepted. Checks can be made out to “Valley View Guidance”. The student will receive a practice booklet at the time of registration.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides first-hand and practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

The PSAT/NMSQT measures:

· Critical reading skills

· Math problem-solving skills

· Writing skills

You have developed these skills over many years, both in and out of school. This test doesn't require you to recall specific facts from your classes.
