The visual arts program offers students a complete art experience with explorations in the classics such as painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and crafts. In addition to gaining confidence and skill working with a variety of mediums, students will learn about the history, analysis, and appreciation of art.

Art in school is both a body of knowledge and a series of activities. Learning in art has four basic components. The goal of art education is the development of these areas:

Art Production (making art)

Art Criticism (responding to and making judgments about the qualities of a piece of art)

Art History (acquiring knowledge about the contributions artists and art have made)

Aesthetics (understanding the nature, meaning, and value of art)
