The Coca-Cola Scholarship
The Coca-Cola Scholarship (open to high school students who will graduate during the 2024-2025 academic year) will be available The application for 2024-2025 high school graduates closes on September 30, 2024, at 6pm ET.

Horatio Alger Scholarship - This scholarship is available to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. To be eligible the student must be a full time student enrolled as a Junior in high school. They must be progressing normally towards graduation in 2025. They must intend to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, demonstrate financial need (preferably $55,000 or lower adjusted gross income per family), be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, obtain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and be a US Citizen. Horatio Alger National Career and Technical Scholarship Program- This program provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria also include high school completion by spring of 2019, commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical certificate/degree, Pell eligibility, student is under age 30, an United States citizenship. The Association will award 1020 scholarships in 2019 with a maximum award amount of $2,500 depending on the length of the program and need of the student. The Pennsylvania Society -MacGuire Scholarship - The Pennsylvania Society is a non-profit, charitable organization with over two thousand members around the Commonwealth, the United States and the world. Its purpose is to honor achievement, to reward excellence, to promote good will and to celebrate service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and to humanity in general. To apply a student MUST
- Be a current high school senior at any Pennsylvania high school (public, private, home schooled)
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent
- Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited, nonproprietary, four-year college or university in Pennsylvania for the 2018-2019 academic year
- Demonstrate financial need
- Have been and continue to be an active participant in community service
Masonic Scholarships--open to seniors who are members of the Masons, siblings, children, grandchildren, and members of the Masonic-related youth groups. All available scholarships can be downloaded at www.pmyf.org. Deadlines for these scholarships are varied.
Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics 2024 Blair E Caboot Memorial Scholarship - The Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NPCTM) annually presents a scholarship to a deserving student from northeastern Pennsylvania. The scholarship is in memory of Blair E. Caboot, a past President of NPCTM and mathematics educator in the Abington Heights School District and Keystone College. The scholarship applicant should excel in mathematics in high school and have future plans in a mathematics-related field.
Eligible applicants must attend school in one of the following counties: Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, Sullivan, Wayne, Wyoming.
To apply, students should fill out the outline form at www.npctm.org . A transcript and recommendation letter from one of the student’s mathematics teachers is required.

PSECU 2021-- To qualify for one of six scholarships awarded for up to $8,000 (up to $2,000 per year, up to four years), the student must be a PSECU member by Monday, December 31, 2020. All applications must be submitted by 12 p.m. (noon ET) on FEBRUARY 26, 2021 - no exceptions. A complete list is available at psecu.com/eligibility. United Steelworkers Scholarship in Memory of Hugh Carcella
Six, 4-year scholarships, each with a total value of $4,000 is awarded every year. Scholarships will be available for use in an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada. Winners may follow any course of study normally leading to a bachelor's degree. A two-year Community College is acceptable when matriculating toward a 4-year bachelor's degree program.
An applicant must be a member in good standing, or the son or daughter or legal ward of a member of a United Steelworkers, District 10 (Eastern) local union participating in the Scholarship Program; or the son or daughter or legal ward of a disabled or old age retiree or deceased member of an affiliated local union who was in good standing with the United Steelworkers at the time of their retirement or death. Applicants must be in the graduating classes in the year the scholarship are awarded. Applications may be obtained, upon request, from participating local unions. Fully completed applications, including when possible, SAT, Official High School Transcript and any letters of recommendation, should be mailed to: Scholarship Fund Committee, United Steelworkers, 608 East Baltimore Pike, Media, PA 19063. Applications will not be considered complete unless properly signed by the the President and Recording Secretary of the respective Local Union. Applications must be postmarked no later than midnight, March 14, 2024. There are no exceptions to this rule and applications postmarked after the March 15 date will be returned ineligible.
Blakely Borough Scholarship--open to seniors who have lived in Blakely Borough for at least two years. Applications will be available in March 2021 from your Guidance Counselor . The application must be submitted to the Guidance Office by April 14, 2021.
Fraternal Order of Police - Northeast Lodge #63 - Memorial Scholarship--Northeast Lodge #63 is proud to continue the tradition of awarding two $500 to eligible high school seniors who intend to pursue a career in law enforcement by majoring in criminal justice or entering the Act 120 municipal police academy. Any high school senior within the FOP Lodge #63 coverage is eligible, with the exception of the City of Scranton and the Borough of Dunmore as they have their own Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. FOP Lodge #63 encompasses five counties in the Northeast corner of Pennsylvania. They are Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Pike and Wayne Counties. Students must be in good standing within their respective community. Student must not have had any disciplinary problems in or out of school. Students must maintain a "B" average through their final two years of high school. Deadline for applications is April 1, 2024. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.
Roy W. Piper Scholarships-open to seniors who plan on attending an accredited post-secondary school. Students may pick up scholarship applications in the high school guidance or by email from piperscholarship@frontier.com. Applications must be submitted and received prior to March 1, 2021
Corabelle Chappell Scholarship--open to seniors who are planning to attend Keystone College. Scholarships are available on https://www.csascholars.org/chappell/ . Applications will be accepted starting on May 30, 2024.
2022 Penn East Federal Credit Union Scholarship-open to graduating high school seniors who will enroll in a full-time undergraduate program during the 2021-2022 school year at an accredited two year or four year college/university or vocational/technical school in the United States. Applicants or their parents must be members of Penn East FCU. Applications are available for download at wwwpenneastfcu.org. February 1, 2022.
James F. Swift Scholarship--open to seniors who are graduating from a public, private, or charter high school in Lackawanna County. They must be planning to enroll for the first time in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college or university, preferably one of the following Lackawanna County schools: Summit University, Johnson College, Keystone College, Penn State Worthington, Lackawanna College, Marywood University or the University of Scranton. Mike Munchak Community Service Scholarship
The United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties has established this scholarship program to assist high school students from Lackawanna and Wayne Counties who plan to attend post-secondary education. To be eligible candidate must actively involved in community service activities in programs funded by this United Way, be a full-time resident and/or students of school districts within Lackawanna or Wayne Counties and accepted by an accredited university, college or trade school in a two or four year degree program track for the 2023-2024 school year. The scholarship for 2023 is $6,300 and is awarded for a one year period only. More information and applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline to apply is April 20, 2024. Pennsylvania American Legion Essay Contest
Any student enrolled in grades 9 through 12 in a public, private or parochial, cyber school or who is home schooled in Pennsylvania is eligible to patriciate. Information in available at
“A constitutional speech contest”
The American Legion Oratorical Contest exists to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution among high school students. Since 1938, the program has presented participants with an academic speaking challenge that teaches important leadership qualities, the history of our nation’s laws, the ability to think and speak clearly, and an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship. Northeastern Pennsylvania Audubon Society--open to seniors who wish to major in an environmental field at an accredited two or four-year college or university. A $4000 scholarship is awarded to a senior who wishes to major in a field such as Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, Fish, Game or Wildlife Management, Ecology and/or Environmental Science. Our scholarship is awarded in increments of $1000 per year for each year of the degree program. You can download the application at
Pennsylvania American Water's Stream of Learning Scholarship Program
To apply for a $5,000 scholarship students must live in Pennsylvania American Water's service area. They must plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year college or technical school and plan to study environmental science, biology, chemistry or environmental engineering. Applications must be postmarked by April 30, 2022, https://www.amwater.com/paaw/news-community/careerstreamNancey & William Lange Memorial Scholarship--open to seniors who live in Lackawanna County and who plan to further their education by studying in a course curriculum that deals with the environment. Majors such as Environmental Studies, Engineering, Wildlife Resource Management, Natural Resource Conservation, Parks & Recreation or Forest Sciences would qualify for the scholarship. Applications must be received by May 10, 2024.
Road to Safety Scholarship Contest
Metzger Wickersham's Road to Safety Scholarship Contest is asking students to submit a creative project about the dangers of drunk and/or distracted driving. The contest is open to graduation, college-bound high school seniors in Pennsylvania. They encourage all qualified students to enter. Selected first place winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship, second place winners will receive $750 and third place winners will receive $500. William Popovich Memorial Scholarship--open to seniors who live in Lackawanna County and who plan to pursue a course of study in agricultural or veterinary science. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has shown an interest in agriculture or veterinary science. Applications must be received by with a copy of high school transcript and a letter of recommendation. Applications are available in the guidance office May 10, 2024.
Brian Piccolo Award and Scholarship ($1,000)
The award is given to an Italian senior student athlete, male or female, who has exhibited excellence on the athletic field and in the classroom and who has displayed the attributes of Brian Piccolo has shown by hard work, dedication, loyalty and teamwork. Piccolo, a native of Pittsfield, was a running back for the Chicago Bears who died of cancer at the age of 26.
The Keystone Chapter of UNICO National will be honoring one high school student athlete from a Lackawanna County High School each year with this award. The criteria for the award is as follows:
1. Senior Student athlete Male or Female going to college
2. At least 1/4 Italian ethnicity
3. Community Service Hours
4. Minimum 3.0 GPA
Please include a letter of recommendation from a teacher or coach detailing the student's accomplishments both in and out of the classroom, a short essay by the student (1 page or less), and the application form to help with the review process. LOCKHEED MARTIN STEM SCHOLARSHIP
Lockheed Martin is offering 200 STEM scholarships of $10,000 each. It is designed for students who demonstrate financial need and come from an underrepresented group or underserved community. It is designed to provide opportunities to groups that are traditionally underrepresented in STEM: Women, people of color, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQ, and those that are first-generation college students. PLTW students do receive priority. Lockheed Martin internship opportunities and wraparound services, such as mentorships, will be built into the program. It is open to US Citizens attending US colleges. Applicants must also meet the following criteria:
· Majoring or planning to major in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Math, Physics, Information Systems/Management Information Systems or Information Assurance
· High school senior with a 3.5 or above GPA
· Attending or planning to attend an accredited U.S. four-year college or university
· U.S. citizen
· Be willing to consider a paid internship with Lockheed Martin following their freshman, sophomore or junior year of college, other circumstances notwithstanding (note: the internship is not required to receive a scholarship)

CT Chimney Repair is offering this scholarship to students in the United States who write an essay focusing on their career goals. This can be focused on what inspired them to pursue a career in your target field, a story about a past project, or any other hands-on experience.

Greg Legg NEPA Diamond Scholarship Fund
Criteria for Application The Greg Legg NEPA Diamond Scholarship will be awarded to a student who shall make application through the guidance department at their high school located in Lackawanna, Luzerne, or Wayne County. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually.
a. The applicant should meet the following criteria:
1. High school senior residing in Lackawanna, Luzerne, or Wayne Counties.
2. Must currently be playing baseball in a high school program.
3. Preference given to a previous/present member of the All-Star team for Lackawanna League or the Wyoming Valley Conference
4. Submit an essay regarding the impact of playing baseball on the applicant’s life thus far.
b. The student shall have demonstrated characteristics of:
1. Academic achievement
2. Must show leadership skills and/or be involved in community service.
3. Financial need is not a stated criterion, but may be considered in selecting a candidate for the scholarship.
c. The award is a direct one time payment to the institution of higher education where the student will be enrolled. The payment will be made in the fall semester of the student’s freshman year.

PA Bluestone Association Dave Weaver Scholarship
This scholarship is for graduating senior(s) from high school whose parent(s) work in the flagstone, fieldstone, and/or bluestone industry. For those wishing to apply for the scholarship they must meet the following criteria:
1. Any parent(s) owning, working for or working in a flagstone, fieldstone, or bluestone quarry, processing plant, or distribution yard, including office personnel and truck drivers, with a graduating son(s) or daughter(s) who continue their education immediately after high school.
2. Regardless of your grade point average you can apply.
3. There is no preference in regard to the institution that the applicant plans on attending after graduation, meaning it can be to a tech school, beauty school, trade school, college or university.
4. Applicants do not have to be members of the Pennsylvania Bluestone Association to apply for the scholarship, but it will affect your overall score. PBA members receive 10% while those working for a company that is PBA member will receive 5% and those not members receive 0% for this category.

Due to Covid, the U.S. has seen many shortages – one of those shortages being truck drivers. In 2022, the U.S. enacted new laws in an attempt to attract more truck drivers. Some of those laws include the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) rule, allowing those under 21 to be Interstate Truck Drivers, and changes to the Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. Do you think these new regulations will lead to more or less accidents? Why or why not? What would you change, if anything, to these new laws and why?

The Pennsylvania Society’s Benjamin Franklin Scholar Award for Pennsylvania public school juniors is currently accepting submissions. The scholarship offers a first-place prize of $6,000, a second-place prize of $4,000, and a third-place prize of $2,000.
